Losing Weight The Effective Way
Losing weight and keeping it off can seem like an unattainable goal. We start with all the enthusiasm and motivation in the world, and then get discouraged when we feel the soreness from our first workout. How are some people able to succeed?
Determining exactly what you want to achieve from your weight loss efforts should be your first step. What are you trying to achieve when losing weight? Do you often think about being able to wear a smaller size than you're currently in? Do you have a goal in mind, with regard to your weight loss? Or, like most people, do you simply want to make your body fitter and healthier?
Weigh yourself weekly and chart your progress. Keep a journal to log your weekly weight loss, and compare how you do each week. Use the same place to maintain a food journal. Record everything you eat on a daily basis to hold yourself responsible for what you eat. Even just the act of writing it down will discourage you from wanting it.
You are going to eat sooner or later every day. Do not wait until the hunger pangs start gnawing at your stomach to start thinking about what you will eat. Be ready for everything! Pack a lunch and carry snacks with you. Bringing food with you will allow you to save a lot of money. Perseverance is the name of the game.
The two staples of any weight loss plan are diet and exercise. Find a workout you find enjoyable, and perform your workout at 3-4 days each week. If you don't like the idea of exercise for the sake of it, then integrate workouts into activities you actually like to do. Invite your friends out for a walk in the park as opposed to eating out with them. Look into taking a dance class, if you like dancing. If hiking is your passion, then head out in search of new trails!
Eliminate unhealthy food options from all places that you spend time at. It's a simple truth that if the food isn't there you won't eat it. Surround yourself with healthy food and snacks anyplace you eat on a regular basis. Be prepared for sudden snack attacks by having plenty of ready-to-eat foods on hand, such as carrot and celery sticks, fruit, seeds and other nutritious treats.
Developing a solid support system can help you lose weight. While your friends and family cannot lose weight for you, the support they provide is invaluable in keeping you motivated. Having a support group, or even just one trusted ally, that you can call on during trying times, can help tremendously.
