When Losing Weight Seems Difficult
You can become discouraged and give up when trying to lose weight. While you may be very dedicated in the beginning, sometimes people start to get frustrated after a short period of time. You may wonder how other people reach their weight loss goals. What do they do to achieve success?
First of all, you should set goals for your weight loss. How much weight do you want to lose? Is being a smaller size important to you? Is a certain weight the one you are after? Or, like most people, do you simply want to make your body fitter and healthier?
Each week, you should chart your progress, so you know if you are improving. Keep a regular journal that has records of your weight, preferably measured by the week. Keep a food log in the journal of everything you consume each day. When you write down everything you consume, you will be much more aware of what you are eating, causing you to make better choices.
Do not let yourself get too hungry, or you may find yourself choosing unhealthy food. To avoid being faced with the dilemma of making bad food choices, make sure to pack healthy and nutritious foods when you leave the house. It is far better to bring a bagged lunch wherever you are going, than to end up in a fast food restaurant. Packing a healthy lunch helps you avoid the temptation of high-calorie fast food. Because it normally costs less to bring your lunch than to dine out, you will most likely find that you are saving money while whittling your waistline.
The weight loss systems with the highest success rates focus on both diet and exercise. Clear your schedule for a few hours a week to enjoy some fun workouts. Choosing a workout that you genuinely enjoy can make your exercise time a priority in your schedule instead of something you forget about. How about spending time with your male friends? Then you could play a game of basketball with them, or some other sport you like. Do you enjoy dancing the night away? Sign up for some type of dancing lessons. Do you escape life by going out into nature? Get out there and enjoy a refreshing hike on the trails.
Take all junk food out of your house. Having only good foods around like veggies and fruits will help reduce some of the temptation. Get unhealthy foods out of your reach so you won't reach for them when tempted and gain more weight.
A great support network can go a long way in helping you to stay focused on your weight loss plan. Look to friends and family for support and encouragement. Having friends cheer you on when you are ready to give up is a great benefit. Turn to your friends for moral support when you want to open that bag of potato chips! You know you'd do the same if the tables were turned.
