Losing weight can be such an uphill battle, and sometimes it seems like you will never reach your goals. At the beginning of a weight loss journey it is easy to be enthusiastic, but after a few days or weeks you can lose motivation. Some people are successful at weight loss. How do they take it off and not gain it back? How do these people lose weight so successfully? What is the trick?
The first thing you need to do when thinking about weight loss is figure out what your goals are. Have you set a goal of how much weight you want to shed? Is there a certain clothing size you want to wear, or do you want your current wardrobe to fit you comfortably once again? Is your goal to be in better shape or gain energy?
Make notes of how you are doing. You should only weigh yourself once a week. Weighing yourself every day or more than once a week can contribute to anxiety if you are not seeing results. Have a food diary that you can write in to keep count of your calorie and overall food intake. It is imperative to not leave out drinks and snacks! Writing down what you eat can help you make better food choices.
Don't allow yourself to be hungry all the time. This will make you more likely to binge on unhealthy foods. The best thing you can do is keep to a food schedule and avoid this. Not planning your meals ahead of time is a surefire way to get caught in the junk food trap. Any time you leave you should take your snacks with you. Start packing your lunches. This is not only rewarding for your waistline, but your wallet will thank you as well.
If your pantries are not filled with bad food choices, you can't consume them. Fill your pantry with healthy foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and other types of healthy snacks. Avoid purchasing the foods you should not have so it will not be in your cupboards when you are hungry. Make it difficult for you to have the junk food that you want by never purchasing it or bringing it into your home.
Have your friends help you achieve your goals for weight loss. Weight loss is ultimately up to you, but it is very helpful to have support from friends and family to help keep you motivated. When you are losing your motivation, lean on these people for additional support.
