At the beginning of a new weight-loss plan, many people are extremely motivated and hopeful. Sometimes the long term goal just seems too elusive, and the tendency is to give up too soon. Packing lunches to eat while at the office or at school makes far more sense than dining out. When you prepare your own lunch, you can regulate your calorie intake and save yourself from ordering high-calorie restaurant meals. Save your waistline and your wallet when you bring your own lunch.
Being able to balance healthy eating and exercise is the key to permanent weight loss. You must exercise a minimum of three days each week, but more is even better! If this has been where you have failed in the past, plan instead to incorporate exercise into things you already enjoy. Ask your friends to schedule a weekly walk or two with you. Hiking is another great way to lose weight. If you like to dance then go out dancing, but try a new form of dance such as salsa or samba classes.
Refrain from purchasing food that doesn't fit your diet. In the beginning, this might be difficult for you and all others in your household, but anything that is bad for you is bad for them as well. Load your refrigerator and pantry with plenty of healthy food choices. This doesn't mean you have to go without snacks! Both adults and kids will benefit from eating fruit. There are many other healthy snacks, as well, including granola.
Do you have a friend that wants to lose weight too? If so, set up goals together and be there to encourage each other when the other is lacking in motivation. When you are having a bad day, turning to others for support is a real pick me up. Ask others for help reaching your weight loss goals when you need it.
